How do I clean tarnished silver?
Use a soft polishing cloth made for sterling silver — avoid paper towels or tissues, as they can scratch.
Gently rub the silver (avoiding the turquoise) until it brightens.
For heavier tarnish, you can use a silver-cleaning wipe or mild soapy water, but be careful not to soak the turquoise.
These are my favorite polishing cloths.
Can I use silver dip or chemical cleaners??
Not on turquoise jewelry. Silver dips and harsh cleaners can damage or discolor the stone and strip its natural moisture.
How should I care for turquoise?
Turquoise is porous and delicate — it can absorb oils, lotions, perfumes, and even water, which may cause discoloration.
Avoid chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, or steam cleaning.
Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
Can I wear my ring in the shower or while swimming?
It’s best not to.
Water: Especially chlorinated or saltwater, can damage both the silver’s shine and the turquoise.
Soaps & shampoos: May leave residue or dull the stone.
Pools/hot tubs: Chlorine can be especially harmful.
How should I store my ring?
Keep it in a soft pouch or jewelry box, away from other pieces that might scratch it.
If possible, store silver in an anti-tarnish pouch or with an anti-tarnish strip.
My turquoise looks different than when I bought it. Is that normal?
Yes - natural turquoise can change slightly over time, deepening in color or showing more of its natural matrix. This is part of its charm and individuality.
How often should I polish my ring?
Whenever you notice dullness or tarnish. Over-polishing can wear away the surface details, so gentle, occasional cleaning is best.
Anything else I should know?
Remove your ring before cleaning, cooking, gardening, exercising, or applying lotion/perfume.
Treat your ring like a tiny piece of art — the more mindful you are, the longer it will look beautiful.
